Jackson GI Prebiotin Prebiotic Fiber July 9, 2010 Sam J. Addeo (Atlanta, Georgia) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have just read through all of the positive reviews of this product and I am happy it worked for these people. However (there is always a however) I am curious if these people know that there are many different types of prebiotic fiber for many different causes. This particular ingredient is listed on WebMD as the ingredient in some dog foods. It might appear to be effective across the board for some people but I imagine so would a placebo. There is nothing to indicate the uses for this specific product in the description. I am curious if any prebiotic is pharmacy grade or if there is such a thing. My wife made a purchase at around $40 Subsequently she went to a gastroentrologist for an antibiotic related diarrhea who told her she would have to take a prebiotic containing "saccharomyces boulardii lyo." She showed him the jar of prebiotin and he smiled and said, "that won't do you any good." The new medicine cost her $42 at our Walgreens. The older I get the less of a cynic I become because there are so many different cures and dietary supplements out there today. However (another however)unless you are taking sugar and water, everything impacts on everything else. Some inocuous sounding vitemin can have disasterous effects if not taken properly or not reported to your medical doctor (St. John's Wart comes to mind) This company carries several products. There is no reason why they could not provide a fuller description and educational information. There are diseases that people take prebiotics for that could be deadly. It is up to you to try hard not to make a mistake.
Fabulous-easy to use-amazing product July 7, 2010 Candace Drimmer (Chicago IL) With a husband who has been talking about prebiotics (and probiotics) for years--I bought this product after reading a study saying prebiotics could help allergies/asthma. I eat plenty of probiotics--but pre...not so much. As one who has a "lazy colon" (my internist's term)--I had no idea what this could/would do for that. But it does what fiber products, and other products doesn't--makes me like a kid once again. Love this product. A mainstay of my life now.
Good for GI problems March 12, 2010 Exercise gal 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I started Prebiotin about 1.5 years ago. I find it to be
helpful in dealing with my GI issues. I will be eager to
see what my Dexa Score is this next fall, as this supplement is
supposed to help with absorption of calcium. I would definitely
recommend this product for someone who is dealing with IBS problems.

i have used plain and orange prebiotin and really loved but this taste so sweet it is hard to find things to mix with - i will go back to plain
Didn't do it February 10, 2010 Mark Peters (Berkeley, CA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This may be a good product for some, but I can confidently say it isn't for everyone. Not only didn't it work for me as claimed but it seemed to make things worse and I stopped using it after a couple of weeks. Interestingly, the label on the container does say that this product may produce bloating and gas. Too bad the maker of this product doesn't have a smaller, trial size so you don't have to spend 30 bucks to find out it's of no use to you.
